October 14th, 2009 · 1 Comment · Hardware, Network

Yesterday we brought you information on Cisco’s imminent release of new integrated services routers. Today more specific information has been leaked in the form of presentation slides brought to us by evilrouters.net.

CiscoISRG2

The presentation lists some interesting new features:

  • Gigabit ethernet ports on more models (possibly all) including 3 on the 2911 and above
  • SFP slots on the 2921 and above
  • A mini USB port for console over USB
  • Upgradeable ”Modular Services Engine” on the 3900 series
  • EHWIC module slot (maintains support for WIC, VWIC, VIC)
  • Service Module (SM) slot (maintains support for NM & NME, drops NME-X support)
  • Internal Service Module (ISM) slot (drops support for  AIM hardware)
  • PVDM3 slot (maintains PVDM2 support through an adapter)
  • Gigabit EtherSwitch service modules
  • Future support for Windows Server and server virtualization on Services Ready Engines

The following table gives a quick comparison of the current vs future models in advertised services data rate, Call Manager limitations, default DRAM and default flash. Want to see more columns added? Leave a comment and I’ll see what I can do.
