It has been five years since Cisco introduced the 18xx/28xx/38xx line of integrated services routers. Despite the lack of an official announcement Cisco has begun to leak details of the 19xx/29xx/39xx generation of devices.
On October 12 Network World Unified Communications blogger Dennis Hartmann posted details on the new hardware. Hartmann did not cite any credible sources but the post has since been pulled.
Google still remembers a portion of the post:
Update: Google Cache Link Below

Last week Cisco quietly released IOS version 15 to those with privileged access through maintenance contracts and partnerships. The new ISR hardware uses a unified software image that is capable of all features for that platform. With the unified software image there is no need to install a new version of IOS in order to change software feature sets. Software feature sets will be enabled through an activation process after which a reboot will still be required.
A quick cisco.com search on predictable model numbers (1941,2901,2911,2921,2951,3824 and 3845) shows IOS version 15.0.1M universal software for each of the three platforms. Notes on the search excerpt indicate that all models will have a minimum flash of 256 MB. The 19xx and 29xx series will have a minimum DRAM of 512 MB while the 39xx series will have a minimum DRAM of 1024MB.
In the last five years prices on flash, DRAM, Ethernet PHY’s and other components used to build ISR’s have dropped significantly. Will Cisco take this opportunity to pass savings on to it’s customers?
